Two Philadelphia universities announce plans to merge; makes good business sense
In a challenging market environment, most private companies would look at merger opportunities as a way to lower costs. In the academic world, however, this almost never happens — despite many colleges operating at deficits.
Philadelphia University and Thomas Jefferson University have announced plans to merge their schools, exhibiting good business sense.

December 23, 2015 at 3:23 pmI couldn’t have said it any better. The Academic community needs to be managed as a business and not a government agency. I wonder how they are dealing with the decline in enrollments? Increasing tuition and/or fees may be in play. Governments increase taxes, fees, and/or look for new sources of money. Well written!
