Give College Students a Disclosure Statement

Study after study recounts the depressing news for many college students – graduating rates only 50% six years after matriculation, soaring student loan debt, low incomes for dropouts and many graduates. The list of troubles goes on and on.

Colleges and universities are happy to take the federally-backed tuition, even though they know that academic success is problematical if looked at on a national level.

In fairness, maybe every college should issue incoming students a disclosure statement to sign – reflecting the harsh realities for students borrowing money to go to college. Too many drop out, have loans they cannot pay, and the downward spiral begins.
